On March 19-21 tourism opportunities of Azerbaijan are demonstrated under the organization of the State Tourism Agency and the Azerbaijan Tourism Board at the 30^th "MITT - International Tourism and Hospitality Industry" exhibition held in Moscow, Russia.

 

Our country is represented by "Azerbaijan Airlines" CJSC, Shahdag Mountain Resort, as well as 13 local industry representatives at the exhibition considered one of the main tourism events in Russia and the CIS.

 

The exhibition participants visiting the stand are provided with detailed information about Azerbaijan's tourist attractions, national cuisine, winemaking, business tourism, health, ecotourism, as well as winter tourism opportunities, mountain and ski centers, examples of tangible cultural heritage included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, such as the Old City, Maiden Tower and the Shirvanshahs Palace, the cultural landscape of Gobustan rock paintings, the historical center of Sheki with the Khan's Palace, The Cultural Landscape of Khinalig People and “Köç Yolu” Transhumance Route. Bilateral cooperation is discussed at B2B meetings between tourism industry representatives.

 

Note that in January-February of the current year 91,397 visitors came from Russia and it is 21 percent increase compared to the same period of the last year. In 2023, the number of visitors from Russia increased by 39.9% compared to 2022, reaching 625,106 people.
